Food Facts You Should Know

At WeekDay Gourmet we use only fresh, high-quality and healthy ingredients. Here are some guidelines we suggest you follow.

Freezing Food

All of our meals are ready to freeze. To assure quality we recommend eating our meals within a reasonable period of time, 3-4 weeks after they have been frozen.

Thawing Food

WeekDay Gourmet meals should always be thawed out properly and not in the microwave. To assure quality, we do not recommend cooking our meals frozen unless otherwise stated on the label affixed to your WeekDay Gourmet meal.

Never thaw foods at room temperature; instead plan ahead for foods to be thawed in your refrigerator. Specific thawing instructions will be labeled to each meal that you complete.

To assure safety, we recommend that you follow these guidelines issued by the Florida Restaurant Association:

  • Frozen foods should be thawed in the bottom shelf of the refrigerator overnight or as recommended on the label.
  • Thawing may also be achieved by completely submerging the frozen foods container in water and allowing cool water (no warmer than 70º F) to run over it until thawed. This is acceptable for up to 2 hours. Please be aware of the packaging when submerging food in water as some containers are not appropriate to be exposed directly to water, i.e. aluminum with paper lids.

Cooking Food

All WeekDay Gourmet meals should be cooked completely and properly to assure quality and safety. Specific cooking instructions will be labeled to each meal that you complete. Use a food thermometer and remember to insert into the thickest part of the meat and avoid hitting the bone.
